  1. Hello, good to be finally posting. This seems like a great community. Anyways I'll cut to the chase, here's my problem: I have some footage shot on a Sony Handycam (NTSC, interlaced 29.97) that I have been atempting to give a sort of 24fps look to.
I've tried a couple of things already and none seem to work well. Maybe I have the basic concept wrong. Here's what I think I need to do: deinterlace to progressive, re-time or decimate to 24 and then back up to 29.97. Please correct me if any of that's wrong. I've talked to a couple of people and most think that this cannot be done, at least not well and definetly not for free. Is that true? Just FYI, I have only limited experience in Virtual dub and AVIsynth. Anyways, thanks in advance for your help!

This post is not really help just an observation 24fps looks really good on film (to me) because film is really good for motion blur whichs really adds to the illusion of motion that film creates.

I am assuming you want to do this for some kind of old timey feel or something? Just curious.
    snappy phrase

    I don't know what you're talking about.

There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

Although this is based around Vegas (because that's what I use), most of the techniques and ideas can be used in other packages

There is also a free AE plugin

And if you have money and plenty of time (and I mean plaenty, this is the worlds slowest plugin), you could look at RedGiant's Magic Bullet suite.

  5. Hey, thanks for the replys!

I've tried a couple of these methods already and found that, at least in my case, some work and some don't. I am interested in trying the smart-bob method that that Dphirschler eludes to here:

...but I'm still trying to figure out Virtual Dub so the proccess hasn't been easy. This is asking a lot but could someone maybe point me in the right direction, like what steps or scripts or plug-ins or what is involved in doing this with Virtual Dub. I already have a good idea but some basic clarification would be very helpful.

    Anyways, thanks again.
