  1. Hello everyone, I was wondering if someone could help me. I want to be able to capture a television show that runs every weekday. I want to be able to keep them on my HDD so that I can later burn them to VCD's. I really don't like to open up my computer, so I was wondering if there were any capture devices that were external that were around $100. I don't need supreme quality, but I would like quality that you can get if you were to record TV with a VCR. I was wondering what I need to do to be able to do this. As of now, I have a cable modem and two cable lines that run into my room. Am I going to need to use these?

    Thanks in advance.

If you want mpeg.... at least that seems to be the consensus and sincce it sounds like you won't be worrying about editing a hardware encoder based card such as that is the way to go. Fast and simple. If you decide on one of those USB devices make sure you have USB2 on your computer or forget it.
