I searched the web as hard as i could couldnt find any free drivers. I looked on Sony site all i found was dcr-pc105, not dcr-pc105e. I tried the pc105 driver it didnt work. I searched google couldnt find anything searched these forums couldn't find anything. Maybe im not good at searching, i searched for stuff like "dcr-pc105e drivers free download". Where do i find the drivers which i connect the handycam to my computer?

If google doesn't turn something up you may have to contact sony.
Whats the difference between the 105 and 105e, they might be the same exact driver.
For that matter does it NEED a driver? I know my Sony Firewire DV converter doesn't need one under windows XP. -
Well I managed to find the driver, i didnt know e meant europe and found it. Problem is I downloaded the driver and installed it but after it said restart computer i did, and nothing happened when i restarted. I plugged the handycam in again nothing happened. No software has been installed.
Flaytus why wouldnt it need a driver how else am i to get the video onto my computer? -
Things you might need to check include whether the firewire card has been properly installed, and whether your motherboard is not throwing a spanner in the works. That's all I can contribute in terms of suggestions.

Oh yeah and if USB is bad dont worry i only have about 10 mins of footage to put onto my computer and don't care about the quality.

Wait i managed to get the thing working, all i had to do was switch the camcorder down to memory card mode. Funny this wasnt in the manual couldnt find it, i guess i have to guess these things.
Now ive got the pictures and small videos onto my computer but i want the actual video you take on the camcorder onto my computer, in fact i dont care about the pictures. It says you can do this but imagemixer wont detect it. This is stupid and ridiculous. -
The usb is for transferring the images only, at least realistically. You should have a port labled I-link (also known as firewire or IEEE 1394). You need a firewire cable and a firewire port on your computer. PCI firewire cards are cheap. It's really the only way to transfer video to your computer.
After that it's as simple as plugging it in, turn it to VCR mode, and open up nearly any capture program. You can even control the cam from the capture program.
