Hi,
I got a Pioneer DVR-108 last week and have successfully made several (about 10) perfect backup's of DVD movies using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. But the last 3 that I've burnt had some 'flickering' bits on them -- when you get a few bright colours in spots or lines and the screen flickers and/or jumps and/or stops for a few seconds before either freezing or continuing. I am finding it difficult to diagnose the problem, please help -- here are some specifics.
Movie 1 - 1st attempt: Ripped, then shrunk a bit, and then burnt - all seemed ok. Found some 'flickering' in a few places when checked using the DVD player attached to my TV.
Movie 1 - 2nd attempt: Burnt using the same ISO file as was created in the 1st attempt, all seemed ok. Again found some 'flickering' in a few places when checked on the DVD attached to my TV, BUT the places where the 'flickering' happened in this attempt were different from the places where the 'flickering' happened on the 1st attempt.
Movie 2 - Watched the original DVD all the way through and never had any 'flickering'. Ripping, no shrinking needed, and burning all seemed ok. But again found some 'flickering' in a few places when checked with the DVD player attached to my TV.
I had a look watching these DVDs on my PC using VLC, specifically looking at the places where the flickering took place when viewing on my TV with my standalone DVD player -- they looked fine but it occurred to me that VLC might be automatically compensating for the 'bad info in places' on the DVD. When I tried Movie 1 with Power DVD, it played ok at first, then Power DVD crashed.
I had a look watching the ISO file of movie 2 on my PC again using VLC (in a rash moment I deleted the ISO file of movie 1). The movie seemed perfect and the places where the flickering had occurred on the burnt DVD had no sign of any problems.
At what stage do you think the problems are occurring? How should I proceed to resolve this problem? BTW the same media discs, Infiniti DVD+R 16x, were used in all the burning whether with the problem DVDs or the 10 that have been successful.
Many thanks and regards,
MS

The problem seems to be faulty media or perhaps you are burning too fast. Although you haven't mentioned the speed you are burning I assume it is faster than x4. Try using the same media at x4 and also advise 'what' DVD blanks you are using and the media code of the discs.
