  1. I received an e-mail from vb6rocod concering my firmware problem.Long and short is I will have to change the file name, and hope it works. All his rar files for any player extract to a single .bin file. How do you write the bin to a cd? I have no .cue file!I tried to make a cue ,but I guess I'm missing something. Any suggestions...I tried to change the bin to and iso file ,so I could burn it ,but no luckWell.it burned fine, but my player did not recognize it.

  2. I used image burn, nero, and magic iso with no luck.It gives me file format is not supported.I wonder why all his firmware upgrades are just a bin file, and thats it.Are you supposed to make a .cue file.If anyone has burned firmware upgrades using vb6rocod images files,I would be interested how its done.Thanks..

It's not an image file. You write the .bin file as you would any other file to the root directory of a data disc (CD, DVD). If your Philips player has a USB port, you can also copy it to the root directory of a USB flash drive and use that to update the player's firmware (a better option than wasting discs, really).
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

I don't have a usb port on mine, but thank you for your help.I have model number dvp3982.There is a firmware upgrade for 3980,so I had to just change the bin file name, and it worked like a charm.Thank-You very much.
I was trying to make it complicated.Your directions were dummy proof!

Edit: I thought all was good because all the settings were upgraded, but no sound.I checked the set up to make sure my sound options were not changed.Totally sucks.I took the player back to Walmart with no receipt, and they gave me gift card for 55.00 dollars.I got lucky.I had this player for 5 & 1/2 months.I will upgrade my model number now,but not too excited about flashing another player. That upgrade was for the European model, but vb6rocod told me to change the 3980 to 3982.I'm not blaming him at all, shit happens. The picture and all the other settings worked ,but without sound useless.

  6. I bought a 5990/37 today.Nice deal.I opted for a 2 year warranty with the player, for an extra ten dollars. The list price says 55.00 dollars, but the player, tax, and warranty was $58.00 dollars out the door.Maybe it was on sale. Not sure, but sweet all the same.
