    DivX has been on the lips of rippers for well over a year now, but how good is it? What's the next big thing? I've heard of this thing called Xvid, but I think it is just probably a mpeg4 hack or something. How long till we're all fitting movies onto floppies with the new mpeg8 technology. How far can compression go before size outweighs quality? I hope I'm around long enougth to see it all

    go, here it has a lot of posts and links about xvid, it's upposed to be a new codec similar to divx http://www.divx.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=21574&forum=5
