Everything I found on ebay I found even cheaper through www.pricegrabber.com
Watch out for low selling prices with extremely high shipping prices. -

Some of the software items that I bought were worthless.
Also got some fantastic deals.
For new hardware or software I like Newegg.
Make sure you do your homework, regarding prices and also
the seller. Check their feedback, although that won't always
determine if they're good or bad.
I don't think I'd buy a used hard drive, but the used PCs
came with them and I didn't have any problems.

My two experiences with Ebay have been excellent.
I purchased a car amplifier and a set of collectable cards for my nephew. Both times I was completely satisfied.
Like someone said, make sure you check the feedbacks. You cant tell for sure but it gives you a good indication of whats going on.
Like anything else, its BUYER BEWARE!!!
Hope this helps.

Hello,
Yep CHECK THE FEEDBACKAny negatives and move on (though do read the feedback comments - the seller gets a chance to add a line like - HE NEVER ASKED FOR A REFUND OR HELP).
I've gotten a 3d card, games, movies, a pc card modem and most recently a wifi G pc card. All in generally great shape.
Word of advice on ebay - stick with sellers that post actual pictures of the REAL product. Be careful if they don't show it's real condition.
Also sign up with paypal. It will give you an extra layer of protection since they can freeze the transaction if things go bad (and ebay OWNS paypal now so its even more likely they'll step in a hurry if something is fishy).
Other than that EBAY is good...

If you are looking for new computer parts, look elsewhere. If you are looking for used computer parts, then check eBay.

I've had one seller that was a dick, in that it took several emails and finally a threat of a fraud report to get him off his ass to email me back and ship the item, weeks after I paid (his excuse : "I've got final exams, I got busy")
but everything else has showed up on time, been what it was advertised to be, and in the condition it was purported to be.
my thing is, I never bid more than I'm willing to lose from someone I've never dealt with - I'll pay large sums of money to people where I have a solid track record. check the feedback, check the number of transactions.
the biggest thing is don't overpay - if you want to pay $50, don't pay $75 - no current computer part is rare - another one will show up in the stream shortly.- housepig

I've had good experiences with purchasing computer components from Ebay. I've bought pci firewire cards, a 933 ghz mobo combo and video cards. Just make sure you check the feedback on the seller, ask questions about shipping costs and return policies.
I've had only 2 bad experiences with Ebay when purchasing a 866ghz mobo combo and xp pro cd. The mobo didn't work and the xp pro cd was a backup disc for a Dell pc. I had to threaten the sellers with using the Ebay Dispute resolution which worked because I got full refunds including the shipping costs. -
I buy almost all my SCSI drives on eBay. eBay sellers get those lots of them when places go out of business and get rid of their server equipment. I've looked for similar here but have never happened upon one of these business estate sales. It's also a good place to buy discontinued items like stuff for my old Thinkpad. Batteries used to cost $100+ for it when they were easily available, not eBay resellers are getting rid of them new in packaging for $40.
Actually I really love one of the computer forums I belong to for some great deals in higher-end equipment. I got both my SCSI HBAs there and my old workstation's processors there. Find a good one of those and you can build entire systems on great pricing. Just make sure the seller has good Heatware ratings.FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -
