Does anyone know if we will see 8x Dual Layer burners soon? Its probably too early to ask but i was wondering if anyone has read or heard anything about it. Also, when do you think DL media will drop to a reasonable price?
Thanks
Just a thought:
I havent kept up with DVD news for a long time and a co-worker of mine said he got a Dual Layer burner that would eventually be able to burn DL media at 16X ( which i thought was bulls*it ) ...so about 2 weeks ago, i was at Best Buy, and i walked past the DVD Burners and noticed a box that said "16X DUAL LAYER." I thought "HOLY C*RAP!! 16X DUAL LAYER!!! When the hell did that happen!!"
Of course, after you look closely it says DVD+RDL 2.4X. Is this just a clever marketing scheme to have the "16X" right next to "Dual Layer".
Thanks for listening. Goodnight.

its funny, i'll wait until bluray or dvd hd come in, before i invest in the dual layer, the discs are still quite pricey here - $14US for one disc, where for that i can buy about 5 8x single layers. Mind you where i live, the retail situation for buying 8 x media is 1 shop - and they regularly get the wrong stock in
marketing! some up shot short mini dressed demi moore is thinking up those 16x Dual layer cr#pSome people are only alive because it may be illegal to kill them -

4x will be fine for DL 24min ish isnt that bad -
I thought by now the price would have dropped but they've been the same for about 4 months in the UK. I bought 10 and have 3 left. Used them to backup my star wars discs. Must have saved myself at least £2 on just buying a second copy!

They've come down in price alot, they were about $20'ish each early 2004, and I can walk into my local computer store and buy a 3 pack for $29. I saw CompUSA sells them single in a movie box for I think $7.99? maybe $8.99 - I can't recall now. but for anyone who wants to try ONE... there's the shot. Me? I'll wait. no hurry as far as I'm concerned.
