  1. I purchased some taiyo yuden dvd-r 8x white inkjet printable from newegg.com. I will say newegg.com is great for me. As soon as I open the box that arrived today I thought something might be funny. The spindle was opened and not like the usual TY cake box. Then I saw the discs were full inkjet printable which I thought TY didn't make. The code is TYG02 but I am unsure they are real. This is my first TY dvd media purchase. I purchased cd-r's. I have a benq 1620 that when I scan the discs with the Qscan program supplied it says not recommended for 16x 12x and 8x. OK for 4x and 2x. I burned one 3.83 gb at 8x and checked with cd/dvd speed disc quality check and got a score of 90. K-probe check was good also with PI/PO avg. 5.5 and 0.66. I am just afraid this is not TY media. Any help identifying would be great. I saw in the media id list that TYG02 was on AVB and Dupsonic which newegg.com did or does sell inkjet printables. What do you guys think?

  2. I've seen these disks sold in the UK by an official distributor so they should be fine but if you want to test fully burn pasted 4GB is a better test of how good they are, thats where media fails most in my experience. Let us know how you get on with them as I'm going for these next time I order.

  3. I do see that rima.com sells TY injet full hub printable also. 100 pack that looks shrink wrapped. Can't imagine newegg.com puts them in their own cake boxes? Also newegg.com list 29 results for dvd-r printable and these TY are the only ones that do not state **This item may only be returned for a replacement of the same make/model. I guess I find this interesting.

look at the hub of the disc you should see a serial number embedded in there.......if not then perhaps they aren't real TAIYO YUDEN.

if their is a serial number then it should be TAIYO YUDEN......this is what the manager of RIMA.COM told me.....you may want to do a search in google....if the discs playback fine and have no other issues then i wouldn't worry about it.....the benq drive does prefer the DVD+R media but then again with the last few firmware upgrades DVD-R is good too.....check out the BENQ FORUM at cdfreaks.com.

Typical TY code. I think you are fine. Nowadays, Ty-R 8x are hub printable, while +R are non-hub.
