I have this DVD whose lineage is Master(Possibly 16mm or 35mm)>VHS>DVD and it's very sharp and colorful but in many areas it suffers a lot.
It has color bleed, a lot of VHS grain that looks like it could be fixed and one thing that is odd is that sometimes the edges look a little blurry but they have that undefined, jagged look, almost like something that was oversharpened. The colors are very bright and vibrant, though. But I'm sure everyone who has converted VHS to DVD without any real editing done probably knows what I'm talking about. I don't know what kind of filter I would use to improve the edges.
What could I do about color bleeding? Usually it's something like a purple light on an object that's in front of a black background. If I were to find a filter to help with these various color bleed, grain and edge problems, what would be the ideal order to do them in? Would sharpening be a good thing to use in any part of the process?
