Based on some earlier posts re the Akai dvps-760 dvd player that it needed a firmware upgrade from 11 to 17 in order to play DVD+R; I obtained the upgrade and attempted to install it. I had first verified that it was currently at the 11 level.
Well, after several minutes it finally just stopped - and now it is totally dead.
Does anyone know if there is a possibility of resetting the firmware back to default. It's not a great loss since it was a few years old and the players are so cheap now, but I hate to just chuck it.
Thanks,
Jim

You can try downgrading, you'll need to burn another disc with the old firmware, and trying the procedure again.
But there isn't a way to just revert back.Google is your Friend
