Basically what I am doing is burning my avi files to Laser DVD-RW and playing them on the ps2. The encode doesnt seam to be the problem just the authoring part. Ive tried using Ulead DVD movie factory 2.0 and the dvd played fine for two different movies.
I use diko to do the convertion because when I do lots of episodes Ulead always misses the target. On my last project I used Ulead to do all the convertion and then DVDShrink to compress the unimportant parts of the dvd so it would fit. But this doesnt play back on the ps2.
These always work in a dvd player but not a ps2 all the time. Does anyone have any fail safe methods? Or at least a way of making sure ulead hits the target size?

  3. I know my in-laws had some problems viewing a Home movie I burned for them. I used a Memorex DVD and it wouldn't play correctly in their XBOX or my PS2.

I have yet to have a problem with TDK discs.

  4. Are you using +r or -r media?

  5. Its most likely the media... probably not the authoring...

Most ps2's have pretty crappy lasers... and most (at least teh older ones) dont read rw's or +'s.. or at least not well..

ps2 can usually read dvd-r the best

    (at least in my experience)

  7. Honestly, I think this is a media issue unless your laser needs cleaning or adjusting.

I burn to FujiFilm 120/go 4x DVD+r (RICOJPN) and the PS2 and my APEX dvd player loves them.

However, one time backing up a movie using DVD Shrink and Alcohol 120% to burn, the movie would freeze about half way thru on the PS2 and I would get an unable to read disc error, but played fine on the APEX.

I took the next Fuji off the same spindle, burnt again and POOF no problems what so ever on either.
