  1. Being relatively new to video editing, I'm not in a position to answer this question (yet). Although I've done a lot of reading, that doesn't cut it by itself and I'd welcome some advice from savvy folks here who have experience with these two progs:

    - Pinnacle Liquid Edition v6
    - Adobe Premiere Pro v1,5

    Thanks ~ John

Pinnacle products are not looked upon very highly here. Matter of fact I don't think I have ever read a post regarding Liquid Edition, just posts about Studio.

Your also asking a very subjective question and can get many responses depending on who responds. Personally IMO if your looking for the best bang for your buck Check out Ulead Studio Quartet which includes 4 apps when combined together make the possibilties endless. Media Studio Pro for video editing, DVD Workshop for disc authoring, Cool 3-D for 3-d text and object animation and Photimpact for image editing.

You can purchase the version with DVD Workshop 1.3 for as little as $450 which is a steal.

BTW, DVD Workshop is probably the best Disc Authoring app your going to find..... IMO opinion of course.

Simply...it depends on what you want to do.

IMO Premiere Pro is...well...the Premiere and Superior product.

I should also mention that I have not worked with Pinnacle's Liquid software but judging them based on my experience with Studio 8 and Instant Copy 7 and 8, their lack of support for the products and the heavy pounding their support boards take with little or no answers to questions...I wouldn't trust it.

But then again, Premiere is going to run you about $1000 so.....

I agree with coalman, I like Ulead's programs and DVD Workshop is great and easy to use. Use to use it, I now use TMPGenc DVD Author and will be investigating DVD-Lab here in the near future. But I never had any problem with DVD Workshop.

  4. Ok. I agree with you about Pinnacle. As a historic visitor to their forums I remember a disproportionate amount of complaint about lack of support, almost as bad as the Creative (Soundblaster) forums which got 10/10 for don't give a damn indifference. Perhaps quality of support should be my yardstick when thinking about expensive software

    I'll check out DVD Workshop.

    Many thanks.

Another product to consider is Sony Vegas 5 which is very popular with independent producers these days.

As said above, the choice of product depends on your goals and to which editing community you aspire.
