  1. For some odd reasons when I edit & then render out captures now in UVS7 my files are screwed-up.. maeaning the out comes are not complete & are all scrambled out & very blocked in certain parts of the files...

The un-edited files play & look good before i try to edit them. I can cut & work them fine in TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress, but, when I take them over into UVS7 or 8 they will get screwed up. Also, this will happen on either my 7800 or my 9600 xt ATI cards.

Anybody have any ideas on this matter. Thanks..

    and oh, I run xp pro 1g ram & 160g h/ds..

That has nothing to do with your video being screwed and unless they are AIW cards that your using for capturing they don't have anything at asll to do with your video.

    Suggest you post a screenshot.

  3. Yes, AIW cards, it's what I use to capture files, and I have no upload site for a screenshot of happenings. but, when the files get to certain parts it just starts to melt & fall apart like in digiatl blocks.
I have not changed anything on my pc. I've re-installed windows & programs and i've reseated all my cards & hardwares , I even dbl checked all wires & cables, but man, I can't find or figure out anything that might be causing this crap.
I think someting is corrupted some where in something.

Sounds like bad hard drive spot or fragmentation.

There are certain things that can and cannot happen. So far, I see no reason to blame the ATI card. Not yet. One step at a time.

    - Show us images.
    - View captures (before Ulead VS) in MMC player.

  5. Thanks for the replys guys. Well I can say it is'nt the HD, I have a New one & it still happens. What's strange is how it will only happen in UVS & not other wares... It's seems the bad spots (dropped looking fames)

only happens in certain areas, like in & around at the 30% & 70% parts during the actual renders, it just seems to BOGG down. Guess that's why rendered files that should be 1g in sz. are turning out to be in the 200 -300 mbs szs. .?
I've checked all my settings along with pc RAM, cards cables etc.. & reinstalled win xp twice. I even cussed & almost kicked the dog ha..
But anyway, I can't figure this out or understand just alittle why this is all of a sudden going on with my pc..... HELP..

  6. Just a suggestion. Open the original in virualdub and check for bad frames. If your capture had any corrupt or dropped frames UVS7 could be choking when trying to render the edited version. BTW, what codec are you using to capture and what to render with in UVS7?

  7. I have checked captured files for erros in Vdub.. and have & get no errors on my captures. Most all my captures are always like 30 min shows like South Park, then i'll go cut the commericals for a quick job over in UVS 7 or 8, where all my fun starts now..

I capture in AIW 9600 Series ATI 8.8
    Type "ATI VCR, MPEG"
    Encode Interlaced/Cropped Vid.
    P Frames in Group 4
    B Frames in Subgroup 2
    MPEG-2 DVD 720 x 480 NTSC (525)
    8.00/8.00 VBR. Audio 48KHZ 16bit Stereo @ 192K
    90% Quality

Cut templete settings used in UVS 7 with patches
    Audio Video/29.97 f/s
    Feild Order B
    720 x 480 NTSC DVD @ 90% Quality
    8000 VBR
    Audio 48KHZ 16bit Stereo @ 192K

So what did you use to check for bad/dropped frames, the regular virtualdub will not open MPEG-2 (it must be mpeg-2 as mpeg-1 does not support interlacing).

The fact that it is mpeg may be part of the problem. It is not intended as a format for editing. Have you tried capturing as avi or using Womble for editing, it is reccomended by many for editing mpegs.

  9. I use the VirtualDub-MPEG2 to chek the files. I think my captures are fine,,, they play fine in players MMC & CyberLink PowerDVD v.5.0 Deluxe & the files will cut & encode just fine in TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress (but it takes 59mins) , the files will even play & save ok in UVS&7 , its just when I go to cut out parts & then try & save them as a New cut file, thats when all goes crazy there.

  10. Try a different editing app such as Womble.

There is a free tial version available. If it solves your problems it might be worth a few $$$$$'s and you can try it out for nothing.
