  1. tried burning avi. files to disc using this guide:

    http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/31/59/

Got all the way to Step 9 and then got the following msg:

    ERROR TRACE
    KEY, ASC, ASCQ, ASCLEN=3,2,0,a

I hit "OK" and then got:

    WRITE DATA FAILED

    Hit "OK" and disc ejected.

Any thoughts on how to proceed?

  2. Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > DVDSanta > Remove.
    Seriously.
Get tmpgenc and encode your avi.
Get DVDLab (or similar) to author your dvd.
    Burn with something.
"One-click" type apps rarely do as advertised, withtout problems, and you're better off learing a few basic, GOOD, apps to get the results you want.

  3. What about tmpgenc to NeroVision Express 3? Are you a fan of that?

  5. Nerovision Express may work. It may also decide that your video is not compliant (even though it is), and attempt to re-encode it anyhow. A major fault of nerovision.
I suggest you don't let it re-encode, as it will take hours, and probably result in a dvd where audio is out of sync, and the video quality will be compromised.
If, somehow, you can get Nero to simply author the dvd, adding your menus and stuff, without a re-encode, then it may be all right.
Nobody I know actually recommends nerovision though, and you're still better off getting dvdlab or tmpgenc dvd author, or something, to author and burn the dvd.
Click Tools on the left hand side of this page, then select dvd author, and you'll get a big list of appropriate software, some of it is even free.
