  1. Alright...

I have this Mobo laying around Intel® Desktop Board D845GVAD2 and I thought I'd put together a standalone coding machine. So I bought this CPU Intel Pentium 4/ 2.4A GHz 533MHz FSB, Prescott Core, 1MB L2 Cache - Retail.

Anyways the real problem. I order the stuff, put it together and!!! nothing. So I send the CPU back thinking it was DOA. I tried a slower older CPU (A friends) and the motherboard tests good. I get my RMA'd CPU back today and run upstairs to try it out. NOTHING!!! Now I'm pissed/confused. Well after doing some research on this board I find out it only supports up to 512mb L2 cache. So now I need a new Mobo to make this computer work.

I'm open for any suggestions. It just needs on board audio and a VGA slot. Memory I have for it is PC3200 512 DDR.

Preferrably under $65.00. IT MUST SUPPORT 1MB L2 CACHE

    Thanks

  2. Is possible, try to get an Asus board. They seem to be the most bug-free and reliable boards around.

I don't know if you'll find a good board that supports the 1MB Prescotts for that price. 1MB Prescotts are pretty high performance for a P4, one step short of the EEs.
