    Hello

I'm still getting to know & love the 642, but I cannot figure out something which I thought would be basic.

I have made a CD full of JPEGs and MP3s but when I run the music slide show, only the first mp3 plays. The images move along just fine, but the first mp3 (the one I select with the "audio" button) loops.

I thought it would play all of the mp3s on the disk. (When track 1 ends, track 2 begins, and so on.)

Is the "music slide show" feature of the DVP 642 capable of playing more than one song while showing the JPEGs?
-- If so, is there a special file-system layout I should use?
-- -- All JPEGs in one folder, all MP3 in another folder? All files at root?

Thank you for any tips or suggestions

I believe the looping is normal, that is the normal function of the player. I've never experimented with this myself, but you aren't the only one to have commented on this.

From their subjects they sound like they're going to involve 3rd party software. I'd thought the DVP 642 would be able to do this on its own. Hrmph.

    Many thanks.

I want to bump this thread because i'm also very interested in play jpg's on the player. I been playing with several slideshow creators and all i would really want is to show up jpg pictures but with the ability for me to move back and forth on each picture instead of automatically.

  6. Just burn the images to a CD or DVD.

This is exactly what I thought...

I wrote a CD (finalized, single session) with two folders:
    music
    pictures

10 mp3 files in the Music Folder, 300 jpg files in the pictures folder.

I pop it into the DVP 642 and wait. When the menu shows up, I nav to the music folder, hightlight the first song, and click "Audio." The words Music Slide show appear on screen (upper left I think)

Now I nav to the pictures folder, and highlight the first jpg and click OK. Music starts, pix of me fill the screen. All seems well!

3 minutes later (immedately after song 1 finishes) Song 1 restarts. I like that song okay, but to hear it over and over and over is just annoying.

I thought when song 1 finishes, song 2 in the "music" folder would/should start playing.
I figure either I am doing something wrong, or the DVP 642 cannot play more than one song in the Music Slideshow feature.

Does anyone know for certain (seen it in person) that the dvp 642 will play more than one song in the music slideshow?

    Thanks for any input
    ray

ps: yes, I could merge all 10 songs into one monster mp3 and i'd have solved the problem, but this sacrafices the all-important "convenience factor."

  8. What if you click play when the folder is highlighted?

I am not certain, but I think I already tried having the folders when pressing the "Audio" button. (I'll try that tonight, but honesly I think I already tried.)

I am certain that I have tried clicking the "Audio" button on two or three songs then "okay" on the jpegs. This results in the final song chosen to loop (while the pix play perfectly)

  10. This is probably a really boneheaded question, but I was wondering, I've been having trouble playing some newly-encoded files on my 642. I have a program that fixed the problem on my PC, and I was wondering if I could install it on my 642.

I haven't done the firmware upgrades yet, so should I just install those and see if that works?
