Anyone here use Firefox? I know few you do because you have buttons in your signature line. I downloaded it because people say it better than Internet Explorer the one I used. I installed and just to try it out and uninstall but I actually like it!

not Firefox, but Mozilla 1.7 (I'm too used to the tab layout in Moz, everytime I go to close a tab in FF I end up opening a new one!)

IE is for safe sites only.

A week ago, I finally downloaded Firefox.

I like it and I don't like it. There are some annoying things about it- like the black traced line around boxes on Videohelp. And that it is hard to open thumbnails with it.

I would say I now use Firefox 60%, IE 40%.

IE is slightly better designed browser IMHO. But since everybody is raving about its security, I tend to use Firefox more.

Firefox reminds me too much of Netscape and I really dislike Netscape.

The strength of FF is the extensions, like the ability to block and remove annoying flash ads.

Been using IE since Day 1.
Got used to it....and it's never given me any trouble. I always do the critical updates and run Spybot regularly. If problems start to arise then I MAY switch, otherwise no.

How so? I love my Firefox and custom themes (even though my favorite never made it past version... the one before 1). Works better with sites done with CSS. IE completely f(*&s uo with some sites.

    I agree.

I use the sky-pilot classic theme, with helpful extensions like ad-block, nuke anything, and so on.

Don't like Firefox on windows, it just feels slow to me. Browsing is split 50/50 between IE and Opera.

On linux, I dislike Firefox even more. It's just as slow, and the start up time takes too f'n long. So I use Opera.

Spyware, addware, malware, viri. I don't worry about them at all. I only visit a few websites, mostly forums and .edu, .gov sites. I have google's toolbar installed with pop up blocker. It's blocked 42 pops in 18 months. 40 of them are from www.cdfreaks.com I belive.

My google toolbar has like 3000 blocked in about 2 years or whenever I first installed it. I think most of those are from, um, adult websites?

But I use mostly IE and don't have any spyware, et cetera. Simply using IE doesn't guarantee it will happen.

  23. IE after installing XP SP2 is tha bomb (best popup blocker I've used). I hadn't even heard of Firefox until now.

Hrm... I installed firefox. I run Adaware every few months just in case.

edit: actually this thread made me check. I just installed Adaware for the first time since I formatted this machine about 6 months ago. The result? Removed a few tracking cookies.

  26. I hated Netscape Navigator too...

However, Firefox is SO much better than IE 6 (even with SP2) in so many ways.

Firefox + Adblock (extension) --> No more adds anywhere!

  30. I changed to FIrefox when I cleaned my PC and stuck on XP Pro. Have to say I am more than impressed. I am still undecided about their mail program because of my pst file form Outlook and e-mails i want to keep but I am still trying. I would change to Linux as well if I could get the bloody internet to work for me. Still trying tho.......
