    Why, for the past 4 versions, does ffmegx ask me to install all the plug-ins every time? I hardly ever use it because I have to go thru all of that each time.

    A possible answer is that you installed wrong components. Open terminal.app and copy/paste the following command

    ls -l /Library/Application\ Support/ffmpegX

    Then email to me to major4@mac.com with the results and I will help you.
