    hi
i have been backing up my avis to cdr to make room on my hard drive but something is going drasticly wrong,

i burn my avi to cdr as i alwayshave done nero states that it completed ok but when i insert the cdr to check it , it wont run , the disk just spins repeatedly and i have to eject it as im unable to access it .
if i turn the disk over there is a ring about 10 millimeter from the center of the cdr as though its only burnt 200 or so mb when the total size of avi is 700mb so the ring should be maybe 2 millimeter from the outside of cdr so can anyone tell me please what can be wrong ,
this has happened on 8 different avi's and tried to put some data ie game files to cdr and the same problem

anyone able to shed some light please

bad burns by the sounds of it. Maybe try a different brand of CDs ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Different burning software not working means it's more likely to be the discs.

In my part of the world (Australia), imations are crap. My brother bought a 25 disc spindle, burnt 25 audio CDs for 10 coasters with 3 different burners. Don't know what they're like in your part of the world though
    If in doubt, Google it.

Look for FUJI packs of CD-R discs that say MADE IN JAPAN because those packs contain CD-R discs made by Taiyo Yuden which are the best you can buy.

Maxell makes a brand of CD-R discs called PRO and these say MADE IN JAPAN and are also most excellent.

Avoid CD-R media that says MADE IN TAIWAN ... in short you want a brand that says MADE IN JAPAN as those tend to be made better which means better burns etc.

Thought: You are burning them as Data CD aren't you? (Not Video CD or anything some such...)
