  1. We just got done filming for our instructional video and was told by my film guy that my DVD master is basically just the DVD I decide to burn from, there really isn't anything special about a "Master". Is this true?

    Hello,

I always thought a MASTER was the original source video that had the best quality since it ISN'T a copy.....

  3. Well for DVD-r I would say No.But if you wanted them Pressed then, you would need to get a Glass master made..Big $$$$

EDIT: I think it is a glass master They use not to sure.

    Hello,

UNLESS you reencode them as such there will be some quality loss as your messing with the bits and bytes of the video

  6. Yea, that's what he said. He said since it's digital it doesn't matter. I talked to someone about mass replication and he said he would just need a -R and they would go from there, he didn't say anything about glass mastering... hmmmmm..

Then you would have a new "Master"

    Hello,

    Gotcha

    Kevin

(though of possibly inferior quality depending on what the reencoding was for )

    TGIF everyone

Well. Your "original" master is the source films. Those footages that
    were shot by your cam.
    .
The *other* master is your "unthoutched" AVI files that you obtained from
your transfer (camera to harddrive) (your DV tapes)
    .
And your final master is your finally finished produced (which in your case,
    authored and burned) DVD disk.

I believe that your Film Guy was refering to the final product (the DVD)
So if you were to make a copy (of this master) he was probably refering to
the DVD disk that you showed him.

Will they be pressed or just DVD-r? Heres a link with some info on mastering. www.disctronics.co.uk/technology/manuf/rep_master.htm

  11. Right now I burn all my DVDs to Ritek+R's with with this burner http://www.runtechmedia.net/product.asp?sku=videoBusterBK8x4&a=9

It is supposed to make all +R's like 99% compatible with DVD players with this technology they have in them, but who knows, that might be BS. All I know is I've shipped my DVD's out all over the US, and I've also shipped to Japan, UK, and Ireland and these Ritek+R's have worked everywhere. Once I sell enough I'll stop making them at my house and get them mass produced but for now I need to sell more!
