Hi Panny folks

I tried to search for answers here but did not come up with much, but it seems many Panny owners face the problem of half-recorded DVD-Rs suddenly failing to record/finalise.

I would like to know how you fellas salvage the disc. I can think of 2 options

1. copy the files to PC and reauthor
2. image the disc into PC and burn the image to a new DVD-R, and use it on the Panny to continue

I dun know if #2 is possible, someone asked once but got no answers. The thing is I tried several copy programmes, only ISOBUSTER can read/extract an unfinished Panny DVDR.

However it gives me a bunch of .tao files, and using TEMPGENC DVDAuthor to compile them resulted in each track playing only a minute or so.

I finally stumbled upon a solution - to run each .tao file through WombleVCR using the programme stream function, it seems NOT to reencode my video, and I was finally able to burn the complete tracks.

I wonfer if what I am doing is right, or even the best way. Funny thing is, some of the tracks had audio, some didnt.

Any suggestions? Alternatives?

Cheers

( the good thing about method 1 was that I was able to put in nicer menu and I simply could not manage to get a proper image of the ruined original to burn.)
