Anyone use this software? I am looking to do some advanced and serious work for christmas Family DVD's. Any comments are appreciated.

  2. I played around with it for a while and didn't like it. The reason was that it transcodes everything without even asking. It's mainly for general users who don't know a lot about videos. If you are a newbie, you might not mind, because it's rather easy to use, with adequate functions.

  4. I have used it but I found it too darn slow. I use NeoDVD Plus which does a fine job and is lightning fast. http://www.mediostream.com/neodvd/index.html

  5. MyDVD 6 outputs to AC3 and won't reencode if the files are DVD compliant,I like it much better than v.4 that comes with most DVD writers.

geebus.. thanks guys. I guess Premiere is my baby forever, I am just looking for an ap that will import PSD files and use them as menu items, I know Reel DVD by Sonic will do it but are there others, I am trying to make my own Menu Items from scratch, I have used Ulead DVD Workshop Pro and that is about as close as I have come to it but I mean bare-bones from scratch menu's with layers you can link to.

  7. For importing Menus as photoshop psd files, the following high end programs work that way:

    Scenarist
    Maestro
    Sonic DVD Producer

(Of course, these programs are expensive and or difficult to obtain.)

For a reasonably priced program that you can do it with too: DVD Lab.

Adobe Encore and Sonic ReelDVD have the best support for PSD files on the consumer level. Encore has fantastic integration with other Adobe products.

Impression DVD-Pro has good PSD support, but too many other problems, and like most Pinnacle products lacks support and bug fixes. DVDit! (PE, SE, LE) will import PSD files, but I'm unaware of the level of layer support they have built in. The new DVDit! just blows, can't believe Sonic took a decent product and turned it into crap. It's too much like MyDVD now

Spruce Up has limited PSD support, but does import and use 1 or 2 layers, not nearly at the level of Encore and ReelDVD. Like Maestro, it's not sold any more.

If you've purchased a Sonic Scenarist or Sonic DVD Producer authoring solution you wouldn't be looking for anything else

  10. DVD-Lab Pro (not sure about the basic version) can import PSD files. Unfortunately, it also imports layers that are turned off.

I actually converted a die-hard MyDVD user at work to DVD-Lab, and yes, the basic DVD-Lab does import .psd files.

While MyDVD is pretty basic software (not for those who want advanced authoring) it does give home users the ability to have a simple program that will encode in dolby.

For advanced offerings, I still like DVDit, although quirky it does have some good features. In case anyone is interested, they have a 50% off sale on all Sonic 'home' products, use the coupon code "sonicsave50" at the checkout for 50% off your purchase. Supposedly a litmited time offer, but they often forget to pull these off right away. A good deal for all those people who don't pirate/steal their software.

    Regards,

    Savant

Last I saw, Sonic DVDit! PE was only $149.
    Excellent price.

  14. I got my copy of MyDVD Deluxe bundled with my new Dell. I liked it for simple projects like my 4-year-old daughter's school performance recording for its embedded simple video editor for cross-fading, wiping, etc. But its too simple and rigid menu structure made me quickly decide to pay $149 to buy a copy of DVDit!

DVDit! is far more flexible but lacks an video editor. And this is why I bought Video Edit Magic.
