  1. Hi everybody

    Ive recently purchased philips dvdr 75 and im recording from tv (pal , europe) . I would like to send some dvds to my relatives in the U.S.A. Do you think that the dvd wil be played corectly or it will be a problem with the ntsc ? I know that my VHS movies were not dipslayed corectly but i dont know if it is the same with dvds...

    It will be a problem unless the viewer has a DVD player that plays PAL in such a way that it can be played on a typical US TV. This is rare over here.

    The PAL DVD will play on a computer (assuming no region code).

    Yep....sending an NTSC DVD to Europe - No Problem(almost).
    Sending a PAL DVD to America - Problem.

  4. mmm.. so what would be the easiest way fro me to fix this? A program maybe that allows to convert fro pal to ntsc? Do you know something like that?

    Try a forum search or read some guides, there are numerous threads on PAL to NTSC conversion.

    If you already have a DVD Player....some of them can convert from PAL to NTSC on the fly....alot of cheaper - no name DVD Players can do this (I have one).
    I live in Germany....family is in the U.S.
    I just convert on the fly back to my Philips 985. Philips will accept either signal to a brand new disc.
    The computer conversion methods are time consuming.

    I found this in the "Tools" section: FireStore DV Standards Converter. It claims to do the job, but at a price...!
