  1. I was making a video for my kids' basketball team with WMM2. I captured from my camcorder and edited the AVI files, made my timeline how I wanted, etc. All fine - done it before. Now I wanted to add a soundtrack. WMM2 won't let me add commercial music that I legally downloaded. What's with this?

Am I not allowed to do this? If so, how come almost any similar homemade video I've ever seen had a soundtrack? Do other programs have this limitation? Is there a "workaround" to get WMM2 to use these music files?

WMM2 really does all I need so I'd hate to have to learn another edit/create program. I use various encoders after outputting my video from WMM2 as an AVI file and am very pleased with my process.

Try converting your soundtrack to 48 khz wav before importing. There's no reason it shouldn't work, but then I don't use WMM2.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

  3. I don't think I was clear about the problem. I think it's a copyright issue that WMM2 objects to. I could be wrong, but it seemed the eror msg. had to do with not being able to import a copyrighted song. I'm not at my home computer now or I'd check it for sure.

Was it an error or a warning? I've seen the warning, and you can still continue.

  5. I checked it out and here is the WMM2 message I get (no, it won't let me proceed with adding the audio).

The file C:\Documents and Settings\Tom H\My Documents\My Music\Maynard Ferguson - Gonna Fly Now [Theme from Rocky] [Album Version].wma is protected using digital rights management and cannot be imported.

It happens with most songs I have tried. It seems at some time I was successful with some song(s) but I'm really not sure now.

Well, I don't really want to get into the legal issues of using published works in your production. That said, I would suggest you do a search of this site for "DRM". It might give you some ideas.
