    hey everyone!

I just got a PVR system and I am curious as to the methods (if any) to copy the video and DD 5.1 audio from the PVR system.

Thanks in advance and if you need to know more just let me know!

    Thanks

    J

Here in Europe we can do this. But our receivers are not like yours there in Canada...

Try pvinstrumento. Read the instructions. You might do this with FTA DVB channels, but do those have AC3 in Canada / USA?. Here in Europe only few FTA channels have AC3 audio...

There are quite a few programs which have DD output. The receiver is not a FTA receiver though.

What about if you wanted to capture??

If you had video card which has VI and if you had audio card with optical (or coax) input........would you then be able to do anything??

    Thanks

In theory yes, but I don't know any program capable to capture digital audio from an optical output...

I suggest you to try our "audio" forum section for this. There are experts there, that might help you.

Now I'm thinking it, I interest a bit about it myself.

I took a look into the audio section and it seems like it can be done but you need a very specific audio card and software. This seems much harder than it should be. It would be nice if the DVD recorder would just include a digital input for audio.

Almost nothing is 5.1 on tv, no need for something like that to add $$$ to the cost of a recorder/card.

Some of the best shows on premimum movie channels are in DD not to mention all the movies.

I am pretty sure they don't put DD inputs on recorders for other reasons other than cost

  13. I see many HD cable stations broadcast 16:9 movies with 480i and DD5.1 and was too looking for a solution to record them from my HD/DD5.1 DVR to DVDs. How is the Philips product? If you already have it, I'd like to see your review.
