  1. I am using Sony DVD-RW 4x for backing up files. My Burning App is Nero 6.6.0.3. I was successful the first time I did the burn. But I needed to add some files to the backup DVD. Every burn attempt thereafter failed with a "Burn Process Failed at 1x".
I haven't had any problem burning with DVD-R's although I am using a different brand, TDK.

    Thanks Nate

  2. try turning off background process like virus protection and firewalls that might consume your resources and cause the error.

Could be a firmware issue. Could also be a damaged disc.

You should try burning with a different program, or at least, formatting the disc with a different program, and then maybe try using nero again.

Is it failing at the end? In the Middle? What kind of burner are you using?

Kinda what bazooka said. Most modern burners (IMHO) burn best at their native speed. 1X will make your system wait while it caches the data for the next bit to burn. Not efficient.

You said, "I needed to add some files to the backup DVD". You mean to an already burned RW disc?

Many programs still use 1x burning, and it's just fine. Lots of backup software, for example.

  7. It does not give me the option to change the burn speed. Is there any other app out there that you would recommend over Nero. Maybe I need to change the DVD-RW's that I am using. I just hate wasting a DVD-RW that costs $2.50. Another thing I don't understand is even though it says burn process failed I can still read the files I tried to burn on other computers. People I really appreciate the replies. Thank you very much for your time. Any more help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You
    Nate
