I have started to have good luck by converting .avi to mpeg-1 with the Panasonic MPEG-1 Encoder then using Nero or whatever to (x)VCD it -- but I tried to convert an .avi yesterday and let it run -- took about 2 1/2 hours for the original 1.4 gigs (yes, gigs) -- but it then got to what appears to be done and then says "less than one minute....." remaining and has now sat there for some 8 hours ....
I was able to convert the same movie previously (700+ megs), the only difference this time is that I decompressed the audio (thus the 1.4 gigs).
Is this expected with the decompression? I'm simply experimenting with all possible combinations to see what really works best for me.
Suggestions ?
NOTE -- I hear a rumor about the Panasonic folks making an MPEG-2 encoder too ... true ?
