I know the xbox live part...I just wanted to know what else I needed because my room is not that close to my computer. I get live practically for free because BBV "rewards" it's best sellers. For every 5 movie passes you sell, you get a $5 gift card and I almost have enough to get a one year subscription. Thanks guys.

Hello,
Well either get a REALLY LONG LAN patch cable.
Or get a wireless 802.11 b or g adapter for the xbox to match a wireless transmitter with your broadband pc

We should put a list of XBOX LIVE usernames of OT regulars here.

Ok, I looked but I couldn't find it. I don't think I got that many hits back then but with yours and Devanshu's help I think we could get a list together. I'll start a separate thread for this one.

Like I said I'll get my wireless adapter and live account after Christmas so by the 27th or so I should have an account established. When I do I'll add it to the new list.
That way not only can we "skype" each other but we'll be able to "frag" each other!

Here's what happened...there is no cable jack in the computer room so I had to get the cable modem installed in my room. Now, when I went to go buy the wireless router so I can hook it up to my computer, the radioshack people said that I still need a adapter for xbox. That made no sense to me because why cant I just plug the jack out of the router and plug it into my box. Am I right?

Just hook a lan patch cable to the wired port and you'll be ok.
BUT if you want to do it wirelessly you HAVE to buy the game adapter. Linksys and Dlink make a compatible wireless G adapter in addition to Microsofts version.

BUT...when I want to play, why cant I just plug modem wire out of the router and into the box? It's just so much cheaper that way.
I know...I'm cheap. -
