  1. I recently bought some datawrite yellow top v2 4x I noticed that the deeper purple around the hole in the disc was a lot broader on some discs than others the ones which are broader just wont burn. I put a disc in to read then when prompted to put a blanc disc in I do that and it won't get past the initialising disc phase then it just says burn failed and gives me an error. The discs with the narrower purple ring burn fine. what puzzled me though was that I had a file that was 4.35 gig on my hard drive and i managed to burn this as a dvd video with nero on one of the discs that had a broad ring. I use stomp to disc to disc copys. Is this a media problem or is it something else. It seems to me that the discs with this broad ring dont have enough space on them to burn a full dvd.

Maybe it's just me, but I am very confused by what you mean when you say "broad ring" and the like. Maybe some pictures would help.

  3. I've seen this ring too. The one I saw made the dye look quite "orange" and it was a dark ring through the middle of the disc.

Media was Verbatim-branded CMC 2x I burned Spring 03 (crap media).

  4. on the burning part of the disc, around the plastic bit of the disc which is round the hole the purple is a deeper purple than the rest of the disc, as on all discs. Its just that this darker bit is a lot broader on the discs that dont burn.
