  1. I bought I/O magic DL DVD burner from Staples this Black Friday.
I use TMPGEnc to convert raw AVI to mpeg2 and authoring DVD disk.
but when I try to play this disk in Cyberhome DVD player, the DVD player cannot recognize it. DVD player showed"Insert Disk". It means there is no disk in player!
I used Memorex 8X DVD+R disk and tried other brands disks too.
    But none worked.
Is there any body meet the same problem? How to solve this problem?

    Thanks

Will it play in any other player? Is your player capable of reading +R DVDs?

  4. Yes, I authored it with TMPGEnc DVD author tool and burned with it.
I did not try other player.

Actually, I used TMPGEnc in another computer and burned DVD. This DVD can be played in Cyberhome DVD player.

The burner in another computer is NEC brand.

I think this is because of the burner, because all others (software, DVD+R disk) are same for 2 computers.

I had the same problem with the HP DVD630I burner that I bought. +R discs would play in my standalone, but not any of the -R that I burned. A firmware update on the burner fixed this problem. You might give that a try.

    Here is the firmware page:

I also bought a new Sony burner and it looked like it was burning the DVD-R's fine but when i placed it in my DVD player or computer, it would not recognize it.

You should try a better name brand DVD burner. (i.e. Plextor). The various media you are using will be more compatible.

  10. I did not find I/O magic firmware in that page.
Is there anyone compatible to this I/O magic burner?

  12. Sounds like you might not have finalized your disk?

  13. How to finalize the disk? Will the software finalize the disk automatically?

My burner is BTC. I just updated the firmware to the latest one (A079J), but the problem is still there.

Is there anything else I can do?

    sigh.....

This burner is OK to backup data, but wiered to burn DVD.

If it won't play on your computer or a standalone, but data DVDs work well, I believe it is more likely a process problem. Get a RW to experiment with!

  15. I am using a Sony DVD+RW trying it now.
I thought it may be a process problem too.

Actually, I tried both TMPGEnc and Nero vision 2. Neither works.

Now, I tried different softwares, different brands DVD disks....

The only thing I did not try is DVD-R disk.
Will this work? If yes, I need buy some DVD-R disk.

But actually, I burned the DVD with DVD+R disk and TMPGEnc successfully in another computher, which has a NEC dvd burner.

Does the process depend on the burner brand?

  16. In the early years of the DVD+R vs DVD-R format wars (when burners were over $500 for cheap ones) I remember reading numerous articles about how the DVD+R standard was potentially problematic due to incompatibility with standalone DVD players at the time. I remember this being one of the positive aspects of the DVD-R standard. Now today most standalone DVD players support all common DVD media standards, but some standalone players may still have some incompatibilities. This possibility increases with the age of your standalone DVD player.

I would definitely try a DVD-R disk to see if this is the case.

Also, check the website from the manufacturer of your standalone DVD player. Locate the machine's specifications (if available online). It should list the machine's supported media types.
