  1. I tried all the hacks and got it region free but it won't play anything but factory originals. With anything else I get only " bad disk". Its an older unit made in april 03. Am I doing something wrong or is it just the early edition screwing it up?

  4. Ok my mistake, to be more precise, ripped DVD's. I haven't tried the mp3's and whatnot because I don't use them. I guess I was wondering if anyone else has one of these earlier models that wouldn't hack or had limitations.. It seems that everyone hacks these out and loves them.

Well, mine is only a little newer than your's but alot of people here say it could be the way you are burning them, the media, ect.
Although i have used all brands of media and have had no problems with it.
On any of my diff. players for that matter.
Have you tried playing any of the dvdr backups on other machines ?
Because you don't have to hack the cyberhome to play backup's, just for other region dvd's, the pal to ntsc conversion is automatic, you don't have to change anything for that.
Are you trying to play backups of PAL dvd's, NTSC dvd's, could be alot more specific, more details, ect.
It may not be the player.

  6. I burned them region free and on Verbatum + and - DVDR and they play in any and all of a slew of different players, thats what irks me. I just burned em region free in case I was travelling in Europe ect. I haven't played any PAL dvd's.
