  1. What media is the most widely used? miniDV tape, mini dvd or something else (sorry if I used the wrong words, just not sure what to buy.) Thanks. I don't want something too proprietary.

    There all non-propietary, I'd go with the tape. Much more flexible than right to DVD.

    I still use my Hi 8 (8mm cassette) with Hi-Fi Stereo Sound recording and playback.

    You could buy a MiniDV they are okay and can quickly connect to the PC for downloading the media faster. Some complanies make even cheaper ones than the big companies.

  5. When you say "DV," does that mean miniDV? I should look for a camera that takes a miniDV tape?
