I have 4 .avi files all around 400 mb. I'd like to burn them all to one dvd. When I use TMPGEnc to convert one to MPEG, the resulting file is over 3 GB just for the one. How can I convert them and combine them all to one dvd? Thanks for any help!

How many minutes in total are the files?
It's the bitrate that determines the file size."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa -
yep, running time is the key here. Add up the running times of all of the files, then input it into this bitrate calculator. This tells what bitrate you need to use to make this happen (you need to note down the calculated bitrate to the bottom left, and make sure you've set the audio bitrate to the bitrate you're going to use for it).
Then encode your files with this bitrate (I prefer to subtract 50-100 from this value to allow for some simple menus) and then load the re-encoded MPEGs into an authoring program. Burn its output and job's right. If in doubt, Google it.
