Faster processer, slower encode?? Help!

Today I transfered the guts of my computer into a new case. While I was at it, I decided to upgrade my Athlon XP 2500 to a 3200. Since the 3200 supports a 400 frontside bus, I was able to run my 400 Mhz ram at normal speed instead of underclocking it at 333 (which is what the 2500 ran at).

As a test of my new speed, I ran an encode I did a few days ago. Instead of an hour and 15 minutes, it took nearly 2 hours!!!

What the hell is going on???

Here are my specs:

ABIT NF7-S Mobo
XP 3200
1 gig ram at 400Mhz
Win XP Pro
TMPGenc

Just a thought but I'm wondering how your RAM is configured. If its a coupe of sticks of 512 (as opposed to a single 1GB stick), there may be a restriction on your motherboard - mine for instance will only allow one stick of 400 as opposed to two of 333. It may be you have actualy reduced the amount of memory you are using inadvertently since you set the motherboard for 400.
