now i'm sure that the tests were structured so as to show this software technology in the best possible light but it's impressive none the less. i wonder how fast a set up based purely on cpu, i.e. dual nehelam xeons or the like, it would take to match or beat a really fast dual core penryn, like an overclocked E8400 coupled to a leadtek.

It's been reviewed over at Doom9 - horrible quality. Who cares how fast it is if it looks like sh!t . Maybe they'll get it right for the next generation, but this one is pretty much useless (except for stuff like ipod)
There are a couple threads with benchmarks, cpu usage, graphs, screenshots, samples etc.. some of them are links to other reviews in Japanese -
