LITEON question

I have become attached to liteOn drives and was thinking of bumping my computer from my 411S to either the 832S or the 1633S but was curious as to if one drive is better then the other? So far all I can tell is the 1633 burns +R faster and reads CD's at 48x as compared to 40x for the 832.

I want to get the best drive between the two but I'm unsure if one is actually better or it's just a situation of getting a little more speed for a little more money.

1633S is the best. I have one never had a problem.

I have both (a 451S flashed to a 832S and a 1213S flashed to a 1633S), and while both perform well, the 1633S performs the best, in my opinion.

i have a 1633s and with the new bs42 firmware getting ready to be released, 12-r and 4x-dl support, it will be a great burner, got mine 40 bucks

Code is the master of lite-on, so you should listen to him. I just wonder if it is just a difference in speed or do you get better scans with the 1633.

In terms of burn quality, in my personal experience (this varies, depending on luck; if you get a bad drive, for example), the burn quality of the 1633S is on par with that of the 2S. But since the 1633S can read faster and burn faster (none of that ugly ZCLV), I would take it. Besides, 2S drives aren't available for sale in most places nowadays.
