I have some anime avi files -- 20 minute episodes around 130MB in size. The resolution is 400 x 320. I am interested in making VCDs from them, but since I am a complete novice, I don't know whether the source is of good enough quality. What can I expect to get from these anime files if I burned them as VCDs and played them on a TV DVD player? They look great when played in Windows Media player, but I don't like watching my anime with a small picture on a computer.

Maybe you can try converting the avi to mpeg-1 using tmpgenc and then use windows media player to play at full screen. The visual quality should be not much different if played on TV using DVD/VCD player.
