Hello Fellow Members!
I've been using my ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 9600 Video Capture Card to capture my VHS videos and satellite feeds. I eventually edit them via TMPGEnc DVD Author then burn using Nero to make the DVDs. I noticed before that I had A/V sync problems, then found the PVAStrumento Program which seemed to cure it. According to the Website, you need to use the Program (especially when capturing via satellite) to convert the satellite transport stream (TS) to program stream (PS) format that further DVD editing and authoring Programs can use so the file does not go out of sync. I also read that using the Program on files that don't need it will not harm it.
I decided to use PVAStrumento on all the MPEG2 files I captured using my AIW 9600, but noticed that the resulting file shows jittery video (as if some video frames have been removed to keep the A/V in sync). I just want to get feedback from my fellow Members whether this jittery video shows up when watching the DVD on regular TV, as my current DVD player cannot play some of these DVDs. Also, is PVAStrumento the preferred Program to use to keep the A/V in sync, ir is there a better one? Also, is it overkill to always use this Program even on files that don't need it? Please advise, and thanks in advance for you opinions!

I have tried PVAS for repairing PS files and I've found that it's more useful for dumping PTS values than for repairing.
Here's a better analyzer:

Thanks for the info. I'll give this Program a try. On another front, does any Member know whether the Capture Program of the ATI AIW 9600 automatically converts the transport streams of Satellite captures into program streams when making the MPEG2 files? Is there a Program that can detect whether an MPEG2 file is a TS or PS file?

ATI AIW 9600 does only make analogue captures. To convert transport streams from satellite you would need a DVB-S card.
The mpg file from your ATI AIW is a program stream.Ronny -
It sounds like you're using an old ATI MMC, old drivers, and default ATI capture settings. That is the problem. Get ATI MMC 8.7 or higher. Get drivers from sometime in 2004. Both are at www.ATI.com for free. What came on the CD's/DVD's with your card is worthless, use it as a drink coaster.
Use an ATI guide here:

Do not use PVAstrumento on ATI MMC MPEG files. It will not work very well.
Your A/V sync issue is caused from dropped frames. Fix that too.

ATI AIW cards are analogue captures. Your last question is invalid. TS is not present.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
