mozilla is the best. keep IE handy cause some sites require it. but for everything else use mozilla firefox.

exploits exploits exploits, the way spyware is these days that's a good enough reason...and it's way more user friendly

Try Opera too. It has most of the same features as Firefox, has already had them for years, and goes above and beyond with options and tools that Firefox only wishes it had. I don't know why it's not popular, seeing as it's been around since the late 90s. It's had tabbed browsing for at LEAST four years, and a pop up blocker for three.

Opera isn't free though. Thats usually enough to make it unpopular when you have free alternatives. (it wasn't free the last time I checked at least)
Edit: looks free again. I swear at one point they had a fee on the main page. -
That's because it's both. It is (and always has been) free, if you don't mind a two line text ad in you toolbar. It's run by Google AdWords so you know they aren't doing anything sinister with you browsing habits. Or you can pay to get rid of the ad. I personally paid for it, as I think it's well worth the cost seeing as it's the best browser out there.

FireFox keeps your PC free of spyware, and blocks pop-ups more effectively than IE can under XP SP2.
FireFox is also quite customisable - you can choose many different skins (styles) and add many extensions onto it for added functionality and convenience. For example, I get the local weather forecast along the bottom-right bar, I can translate any main language back to English, I have tabbed browsing (one window, many pages), I have a BBCode extension that does the tedious forum code for me... The list goes on. Needless to say, my browsing experience is comfortable and unique to me.
If you don't like FireFox, you can easily uninstall it. It will run (if you allow it) as your main browser, replacing IE. You can still access IE, but if you click a link in a .PDF or something it will open FireFox and not IE. That's the only difference.
One of the guys I live with uses Opera. It is apparently a good, stable browser but it doesn't seem as user-friendly, you are limited with customisation, it doesn't block spyware (I don't think) and you've got a dirty great banner advert in the application toolbar unless you pay for it.
Lynx is text-only browsing. Hmmmm...
Just give it a shot and see what you think. As I say, you can always uninstall it again. I was impressed, and I use it 99.9% of my browsing time. I also switched to Thunderbird, their e-mail client.

It works (sort off) now ... I swear I didn't have that option before ... or maybe my age is just catching up with me and I was just having a senior moment.
Now that I see "view in IE" option by right clicking I get an Alert pop-up with some fatal exception error. But, I'm getting closer ... I just need to figure this one out now.

Anything based on Mozilla. That includes Netscape 7.x, Firefox, and Safari. Personally I like Safari but not very available for PCs. I've been using Netscape 7.x since before Fox was in full release. I've used both and basically NS 7 is a Netscape skin of Mozilla. No reason to switch for me since they're basically the same bowser. I do use Firefox on my laptop though.

IE. It's compatible with my work web pages and I telecommute two days a week using remote desktop.
Plus, I'm used to IE and I run Spybot regularly -
