  1. k...this is my problem...

i've been downloading all these divx movies...and i usually burn them as data..i think that's ISO or something, using NERO BURNING. i can only watch all my movies on my comp through the use of WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER. now here's the thing...i wanna know how to make divx movies playable on a vcd player. i've been searching the net for a couple of days now to resolve this little dilemna of mine.

this site, said that i should d/l one of those encoder thing. so i did. i d/l'ed TMPG. then i read the insturctions. but just on the first thing...i'm having problems already. i click the BROWSE on the VIDEO SOURCE, and pick my movie, and it won't work. it says unsupported or something. the movie btw is divx as i stated b4, so it's an avi. this site says that TMPG supports DivX, avi, mpeg, mov, etc. i don't know what i'm doing wrong.

    someone help me out. PLS!!!!!!!!!!

or maybe there's another way of watching divx movies on a vcd player...inform me pls....

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. This is a little off-topic, but it occurs to me that since the site has already had a problem with the space required to store the forum, it would be a really great idea if some of you folks would get rid of these huge signature graphics.

  9. k...i've solved this problem...i can now open divx movies.

but now...i have a new questions...when i preview it...should it have sound or just picture????

cuz i previewed my movie and it has no sound.

and also when i play the movie on any tv will it be as big as it was when it was previewed it??? or will it be stretched??? if stretch, will the video/picture quality be the same or lower?

It'd be nice if you knew what you were talking about before you tell others how to act. Those signature graphics are EXTERNAL. I.E. they don't affect VCDHelps bandwith in any way, shape, or form.

    TMPEGEnc will 'preview' video ONLY

Make final size 352*240 (NTSC) keeping aspect ratios as required from original. For a TV this is more that adequate.
Quality is determined by the bitrate (among a few other tweaks) NOT size.

Keep in mind ,since you wish to go from Mpeg4 (DivX) to VCD, don't expect too much quality since it has already been lost in the original compression to Divx.

    Hi,

ry to install DIVX4 Codec again, I think this is the problem. I have been using TMPGenc for converting DIVX (avi)
files into MPEG format, then into DAT format for (VCD), I never had any problem..

okay first, you have to get the divx codec and install it for tmpgenc to work, but also its possible its a smr movie which means you need their codec as well. You can get the smr patch under tools here. Then you should be able to load the vcd template in tmpgenc and load the movie and encode it to mpeg, then when you go to burn under nero, make sure to choose the vcd option and not data. The other thing is to speed up encoding you might want to use virtual dub to rip the wav file out of the avi and use it as the audio source.

    have a great day,

oh also, when you preview the movie under tmpgenc, I don't believe you hear any sound. Though I always turn the preview option off to increase speed, whether it does or not, it makes me feel better.
