I am needing to capture a 30 second video clip off of a commercial dvd.
It sounds so simple but yet I am having problems. I guess I could run cables from my dvd player into my capture card, but I am looking for a better no loss way of doing this. I have tried dropping the .vob file into TMPGEnc editor to no avail as it just locked up the program. I am running a fairly healthy computer so I was suprised it locked it up unless all of the multiple language tracks messed up the program. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Rip dvd/vobs to hard drive with dvddecrypter.
Load vob into mpeg-vcr and edit/save back clip as mpeg2.

I have tried both of the suggested methods on this thread.
Unfortunately both of these attempts left me with the same results.
a .vob and mpg file with sound but when dropped into premiere the sound was lost.
    PLEASE HELP

    thanks

So how can I make this into a readable format for premiere?
I don't mind losing the ac3 quality and go to a 2 channel sound.

    Sorry for the dual threads

BESWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET. Demux the MPG, then convert the AC3 to WAV.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    This guide:

    BUT ONLY STEP 3.

Reverse it. Select WAV PCM STEREO (words may differ from version to version) instead of AC3 output.

Use GUI too to make life easy.
    Freeware.

    Thank you both!
I finally got it to work about midnight last night.
Once again you prove that you can still work a miracle as proof of me getting this to work.

    Thanks again
