Any of you had experiences with this card?
Can it be used with many third party applications?
What is the MCE about and is that different to standard 350 PVR?

MCE = Windows Media Center Edition (yet another "version" of XP)

This doesn't look too good. Will the PVR - 350 MCE unit work on normal XP with a third party app (or its own software) in just the same way
Or is a completely new install needed -
No, it's not supposed to.
People here like to argue that with me, but they still seem to complain about things.

according to that it does, and thats the 150 version, I want to know about 350mce, If the 150 works with third party apps the 350 should.
So any ideas ppl, the difference of hauppauge 350 and 350mce?
Thanks -
MCE = unclear.
I posted and got different answers.
I finally called Hauppauge and was told that the MCE version was only for PC's with MCE... but that said there are a lot of people who think it will work - only - on an XP system with 3rd party apps.
I didn't want to chance it and ended up buying the 'regular' version of the 150 instead. Works great... after two days of tweaking.
If you can return the MCE version easily... and get all your money back... and don't mind the hassle... I'd chance it. -
Found out the MCE models are supported on XP with 3rd party apps like beyond tv.
However the remote control does not come woth the mce version since windows mce has its own remote apparently. Also the TV out is not supported by win mce either.
Also, because the pvr- models use hardware compression most 3rd party apps cannot use them since they are looking for vid drivers that are just straight to uncompressed avi.
The hauppauge website (under support) does miss 1 difference between the pvr-250 and 350 systems. The 250 uses yuv 4:2:0 whereas the 350 uses a better 4:2:2.
In any case MCE 350 and normal 350 are the same , I am not sure whether using mce 350 on a winxp system allows full screen since the website states windowed. However I believe them to be the same roughly minus the remote control on pvr-mce
I have decided to get regular 350 anyway on the safe side
