Plan to use Hauppauge TV 250 and Beyond TV3.5 on WinXP Home SP2 Dell Dimension 8200 with 2.2 pentium 4 processor & 1g Ram and 200+g HD space. I plan to get an Lg or Panasonic multidrive that will write to DVD-Ram, DVD+-R and DVD+-RW. I want to record TV programs on the PC hard drive, quickly and simply edit out commercials, convert from mpeg2 file format to vro format readable on DMRE85HS and finally burn to DVD-Ram (reuseable media) that I can play on the Panasonic machine.
I've seen a lot of stuff on this and other forums at this site going from .vro to .mpg. What can I use to convert in opposite direction from mpeg2 to vro that will play on Panasonic?

Hmm I don't think going from vro to mpeg is the way to do it. What I have done in the past is simply copy the vro files to my hard drive them change the vro extension to mpeg. After that I used NeoDVD Plus to do any editing then re-author the files to DVD files and finally burn back to DVDR which of course will play in any DVD player.

Clarification for Bob W etal:[/b]
DVD-Ram is the only reuseable, removeable media choice, given the panasonic dvd HD recorder.
My PC with the tuner card produces a file(s) in mpeg2 format. Burning these on the DVD-Ram will be useless for play in Panasonic.
This is why I need to place .vro files onto DVD-Ram media on the pc's drive so that I can remove the DVD-Ram, place it into the DMRE85HS and play it.
First, I need to know if Bob W's suggested burning to +-R is only approach. If so, it is not my choice but I know at outset it has to be.
Second, Will the Pany read+-RW media? Several posts I've read suggest this. If this is possible then this is clearly my best fall back approach.
Finally, I need to know what pc application(s) out there can take the mpeg2 files necessary and convert or alter them so that when they are authored onto the DVD-Ram, the DMRE85HS will play them. This is still in my opinion the favored approach, if it is possible. -
My Panasonic LF D521 multi-drive burns -R and reads it. Having this drive is a must have in my opinion when owning the Panny DVD recorders. Unless I'm missing something, you're not going to be authoring to DVD-RAM, it's the other way around. I take my RAM discs, load them into TDA then author from there. My whole collection is on RAM - waits for flamers!

You must excuse me; although I have done some research on this and other video-oriented web sites, I'm relatively new to this segment of technology and am probably not communicating clearly with the correct terms. Maybe I can clarify by explaining exactly what I am trying to do.
The PC mentioned in my 1st post will be equipped with tuner card, PVR software and an Lg or Panasonic multidrive (burns to +-R,+-RW and -Ram). The DMRE85HS will be purchased shortly. An analog cable will be connected separately to the computer and the recorder so that recordings can be made simultaneously on two different cable channels.
Video content recorded to the video recorder hard drive will be in .vro format and can be edited via remote on that machine, watched and/or copied to DVD-Ram. In addition to being watched, DVD-Rams prepared can be opened with appropriate software by the PC and edited and otherwise altered, converted or whatever.
Video content recorded by the PC for future playback on the DMRE85HS is the problem. The PC produces wma or mpeg files which are useless for playback on the Panasonic. Here are the options as I understand them, please tell me if I've got it bolixed up:
A -- Take TV program PC recorded as mpeg2, use software onboard to convert it to .vob file. Use DVD authoring software to burn-+R media with the content. Play it on panasonic 1 or a million times, library it or dispose of it!
B -- Same as A but when authoring burn instead either-+RW media with the content. Play on Panasonic and when through return to PC and repeat process with new video content. About 1000 reuse cycles are possible.
C -- The TV program recorded on the PC is converted, changed or whatever to a .vro format by appropriate software. Next, DVD authoring software or something then puts content onto DVD-Ram media. These media are fully functional in the Panasonic player/recorder and have many more use cycles than RW media. Moreover, I avoid the confusion of mixing R & RW DVD types between the PC and the video recorder.
Several posts indicate A can be done and I think at least one either recommended or confirmed via their own success that B is doable
My big question is Can I do C and if so how and with what software (type and brand name examples) for the PC. -
Option A. Record the file as mpeg on your computer then load that into an authoring program. Author it then burn onto your media. You now have a DVD that you can play on your Panny. I own two Panasonic recorders and love them - some people don't but I'm not recording for them.

Thanks Captain Satellite. But what about options B & C? I really don't want to burn to -+R media, watch it and then library it or throw away. I want to use and reuse and............ the media! Can anyone out there give me some idea of potential and/or proceedure for options B & C?
