    I've just read a few articles in bulletin boards of club.cdfreaks.com.
    It was reported there that liteon 5005 with newer firmwares, 1090 or 1092,
    support 3hr recording.
    Is it true?

    I just bought one from Costco for $155.00. It doesn't have a 3-hour recording mode. Does anyone have the URL for LiteOn's web page for firmware download for the 5005? They have a morass of web sites that are more than a little confusing/annoying. I couldn't find a download page for the 5005 firmware.

    I think 3hr mode depends on the firmware version.
    First check your version.
