  1. Hi
I encoded a stage show captured using my digital camera using Ulead video studio. first i captured in mpg1 VCD then mpg 2 svcd. svcd file was over 701mb in size than vcd. someone told me that in mpg 2 size doesnt matter the length of the clip matters. does this mean even if it is bigger than 701 mb it will fit in a normal cdr.
THe mpg2 size is about 1300 mb.

  2. If you cdr is only 700mb that is the amount a info it can hold. there is some cdr's that are 800mb..

  3. can't fit 1300 mb... on a 700mb cdr. unless you re encode the file

"normal" 700MB 80 minute CDs will hold about 795MB if burning VCD or SVCD. If you're at 1300MB, I think you'll have to split the file and burn to 2 CDRs.
    If in doubt, Google it.

It's all in the way you burn it. If using Nero, it has templates set up that configure everything for you and will do it just fine. On occasion, you may need to turn off "Create standard compliant CD" to stop Nero from re-encoding. The other option is to author to an image file, which should then burn no worries.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  7. I never really made many Vcd's, Just burnt afew Xivds. But guess its all the same 1300mb is way to much for one cdr.

You must split or encode with lower bitrate.

VCDs and SVCDs are burned in mode2, allowing for more bytes/sector than regular mode1. You can fit 798MB of VCD/SVCD content on a 700(actually 703) MB cd. (If you use nero to burn regular data cd's there's a setting somewhere asking you if you want to burn in mode1 or 2. When you burn (S)VCD's that tab is greyed out and it'll burn in mode2)

Look up mode2 and mode1 cd burning and you'll find a lot of info abut this. Alternatively look at the (S)VCD specs and you'll see what this is all about.
