How can I convert a AVI file to a WMP file on my Mac? Or is there a better format to use for streaming movie with audio over the internet so that alsmost any player can open the file?

  2. To transfer to WMV the only Mac solution I am familiar with is Cleaner. If you have Virtual PC, you can also get the free WMV9 converter and convert that way. I personally find that the Sorenson codec using Quicktime gives the best picture quality to file size ratio. You may end up getting a stand-alone copy of Sorenson Squeeze or getting Sorensen Video 3 if you want to export through Quicktime Pro instead. Finally, you could also go the mp4 route via Quicktime Pro, or DivX using something like ffmpeg. A lot of choices, wmv wouldn't be mine, but do what you think works best.

  3. With Sorenson Squeeze 4 You can make Flash Video /flv/ and Real Media /rm/ files for streaming over net...There is a encoding presets allready so it is very easy to do it...And with Popwire Compression Master app You can make .wmv and .rm files too...But as pixeljammedia said .wmv would not be mine first choice too...

I think flash sounds good as for compability matters beteewn platforms. Most people now have at least flash player installed. But why .flv and not .swf format?

Do I have to convert the movie to flv or swf and then design/adapt: Play/Stop etc. in Flash MX?

  6. I think You can't stream .swf, only .flv /flash video/, but Im not sure...You should check that...
