I just got a spindle of COMPUSA DVD-R 8X media and was suprised to see the media code TYG02 on DVD Decrypter. Isn't this the media id for Taiyo Yuden? Has anyone purchased these discs and are they in fact genuine Taiyo Yuden discs? I remember reading in this forum about fake media ids but would COMPUSA sell fakes? I tried searching in the DVD Media reviews on the left but could not find these.

A friend of mine bought the spindle so I need to find out from him how much they cost. It was a 25 pack, SKU 313424 and says made in Hong Kong. I haven't had a chance to burn and test the discs yet.

They are fake. Hong Kong is the home of the infamous INFOSMART factories, which produce large quantities of crap, mostly fakes (like TY and MXL), and the TYG02 fakes are DO come from that facility. Again, FAKES. BE AWARE!!!!!!
