  1. Hi,

I'm curious if anyone knows roughly how many discs I could expect to get in the life of my Epson R300 printer? I bought it in January, and I had to print about 300 this week on it (just black text, not full coverage). I've never done that many at once, and its slowly started problems as the time went on. Right now, it makes some weird noises when the tray goes in and it often takes 3 or 4 tries before it actually accepts it (it just spits it right back out otherwise). It's also giving me paper jam errors if I dont pull the tray out immediately after its done.

I'm going to call Epson and see if I can get a replacement under warranty, but if I end up having to get a new printer, i'm trying to decide the best thing to do. I'd guess i'm at 750-1,000 prints on it, and until this week they have all been full color full coverage. If I have to buy a new one, and its just going to die again in a year, I wonder how cost effective that is.

    Any help is appreciated.

I'm using an R200 for disc printing. I've heard that they will eventually develop feed problems with the disc tray. I have a continuous ink system for mine which saves me a lot of money on ink. https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=241206&highlight= I figure if it ever starts giving me feed problems, I'll just get a new one and then sell the epson ink carts on ebay. You can get the printer with new carts for under $80. Sell the epson ink carts on ebay for at least $30. You'll end up spending $50 for a new printer, which I think would be well worth it. Just keep the R300 around for regular printing or if you need the card reader or lcd display.

Found this on another thread... I have not tried it so I don't know if it really works.

    1. Feed the tray with CD into the CD front slot as usual.
    2. Apply !!slight!! pressure with fingerpit toward the printer. The line-up arrow heads are slightly mismatched with the CD tray arrow about 7mm more toward the printer.
    3. Maintain the slight pressure and start the print job. The tray feeds perfectly each time.

    Hope this helps.
