  1. I have had some compatability problems on discs that I burn on the JVC DR M10 unit when the discs are over 2 1/2 hours long
I always make copies of these discs on my pc first using nero before I give them out using 8x TY and riytek media copied at 6x.
I have had complaimts about discs skipping and fast forwarding or not playing after a certain point.

Is there any reason that discs recorded that are over 2 1/2 hours should not be the same as discs that are less the 2 hours long as far as compatibility goes?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

  2. Sounds more like a burner problem. I never had any problems with JVC discs playing.

  3. It could also be that you are using Nero.

I had a DVD player that choked on all of my Nero burns (even with apps that used the Nero burning engine). Now I only use ImgTools and DVDDecrypter.

    No problems since.

The horizontal frame size changes from 720 to 576 (VR Mode) or 352 (Video mode) when recording time is over 2-1/2 hours. If you use video mode, this should not create compatibility problem. I have transferred many hours of recording recorded in 3-hours mode to the PC without any problem. If you use VR mode, your authoring software should re-encode for you.

    Do not use VR mode.

I would bet money that the problem is bad RITEK discs that you are re-copying onto. Not AT ALL related to the JVC. Could also be FAKE TY media.
